Importing Gua Sha Tools from China: Documents, Customs and Logistics

A practical guide to importing gua sha tools from China: the export document set, shipping modes by order size, market compliance, and retail-ready packaging.

Finished gua sha and rollers packed for international shipping
Importing gua sha tools from China is a documents-and-logistics process more than a product problem. Once the goods and packaging are specified, the export side needs a standard set of commercial documents and the right test reports for your market - and then the shipment moves by courier, air or sea depending on order size. This guide covers each step so your first (or next) import runs without surprises.

The Standard Export Document Set

Export-packed cartons, labelled per shipment.

Every commercial shipment leaves with the same core documents. You should expect to hold all of them before the goods arrive:
  • Commercial invoice - the value declaration for customs, matching the purchase order.
  • Packing list - cartons, quantities, weights and dimensions per carton.
  • Bill of lading (sea) or air waybill (air) - the transport contract and title document.
  • Certificate of origin - issued through the relevant chamber or authority.
  • Test reports - CE, RoHS, REACH, or Prop 65 statements for the materials in your order, depending on your market.
The exporter issues the commercial documents with the order and provides copies of the test reports for the materials used. Check the invoice values and HS codes carefully before the goods ship - corrections after departure are slow and can hold up customs clearance.

Choosing the Shipping Mode

  • Courier (express) - samples and small first orders. Fastest door-to-door option, highest cost per kilogramme.
  • Air freight - hundreds to low thousands of pieces, or an urgent restock of a best-seller. Balances speed and cost.
  • Sea freight, LCL - from roughly a pallet up to a part container. The workhorse mode for wholesale orders that are not time-critical.
  • Sea freight, FCL - full containers for programme buyers and distributors. Lowest cost per piece; plan around production plus sailing time.
Decide the mode at quotation stage, not after production. The Incoterms you agree (for example FOB, CIF or DDP) decide who books freight, who insures, and where your responsibility begins - and they change the total landed cost far more than the unit price does.

Compliance by Market

Gua sha tools are non-electrical beauty tools, but regulated markets still ask for material safety documentation. The materials we run are tested to the standards buyers most often request:
  • European Union - CE / RoHS / REACH documentation for materials and surface treatments.
  • United States - Proposition 65 statements where applicable, plus your own labelling requirements.
  • Other markets - tell us the destination at quotation stage and we will confirm what is available for the materials in your order.

Packaging That Travels and Sells

Finished goods staged for dispatch and handover to the forwarder.

Retail packaging has two jobs: surviving international freight, and being sellable on arrival. Cartons are export-packed with protective wrapping, and retail formats - printed pouches, gift boxes, window boxes - are specified so the outer carton protects the inner presentation. For e-commerce and chain retail, barcode labelling can be applied so products arrive shelf-ready.

The Import Process, Step by Step

  1. Brief and quotation - product, material, quantity, logo, packaging, destination, Incoterms.
  1. Sample and limit sample - approve the physical product, then sign the reference sample that governs the whole order.
  1. Production - 25-30 days for branded stock shapes after artwork approval; programme schedules agreed per project.
  1. Inspection and documents - three inspections per shipment, then the export document set is issued with the goods.
  1. Freight and clearance - your forwarder (or ours, per the Incoterms) moves the goods; you clear customs with the document set above.

Importing FAQ

Which documents do I need to clear customs? At minimum: commercial invoice, packing list, the transport document (bill of lading or air waybill) and the certificate of origin. Your customs broker may ask for test reports and, in some markets, an importer registration number. All commercial documents are issued with the shipment.
Can you ship to an Amazon FBA warehouse? Yes. Shipments to FBA locations, third-party warehouses and consolidation points are routine. Give us the delivery address, labels and appointment requirements at order stage so the cartons are prepared correctly.
Do you handle shipping, or do I? Either. The Incoterms agreed at quotation decide it - many first orders arrive on a DDP or CIF basis arranged with our freight partners, while experienced importers prefer FOB and book their own forwarder.
Should I order a sample before importing? Yes, for a first order especially. A sample plus a signed limit sample is the cheapest insurance in the whole process - it removes ambiguity about surface, weight, colour and laser depth before volume production starts.
