Stainless Steel Gua Sha Wholesale: Grades, Finishes and Supply at Volume
Stainless steel gua sha at wholesale volume: choosing between 304, 316 and 420, surface finishes, tooling for custom shapes, and planning a repeat supply program.
Stainless steel is the material volume buyers settle on when they want a repeatable product: every piece comes off the same tooling, the surface does not vary like natural stone, and the tools survive shipping, retail handling and years of use. This guide covers the decisions that matter at wholesale volume - grade, finish, logo method, tooling and how a repeat supply programme is set up.
Choosing the Grade: 304, 316 or 420
304 stainless steel profiles - the same tooling produces identical shapes every batch.
304 stainless steel is the standard choice for body-contact beauty tools. Food-grade, corrosion-resistant in normal use, and available in every shape we run. Most wholesale gua sha programmes are built on 304.
316 stainless steel adds molybdenum for higher corrosion resistance, which matters for marine climates, spas with heavy sanitiser use, and buyers who want the specification story for premium positioning. It costs more per piece than 304.
420 stainless steel is a harder, blade-grade steel. It takes a keener edge but is less corrosion-resistant than 304 in daily beauty-tool use - which is why cheap 420 tools can show rust spots when care instructions are ignored. We do not recommend it as a default for gua sha.
The practical summary: 304 for the standard programme, 316 when the market justifies it, and a conversation before choosing 420. Grade is only one part of quality - edge geometry, polishing and burr removal decide how the tool feels on skin.
Surface Finishes at Volume
Polished - mirror-bright, the classic retail look, shows fingerprints.
Brushed / satin - soft sheen, hides handling marks, popular for spa lines.
Matte - non-reflective, works for minimal branding.
Coated (gold PVD, rose, black) - colour continues around the whole tool and is applied after polishing; colour does not change the minimum order.
Logo Methods for Steel
Laser engraving is the default: permanent, works on every finish, and starts at 200 pieces per model on stock shapes. Silk-screen printing suits flat marks on flat surfaces. A moulded logo - embossed or debossed into the tool itself - needs a mould and starts at 1,000 pieces.
Tooling and Custom Shapes
Stock shapes use tooling we already own, so they carry no tooling cost and start at 200 pieces. A custom shape needs a new mould: send a CAD file or a dimensioned drawing (overall length, width, thickness, edge radius and critical angles) - a rendering or sketch alone does not carry the parameters needed to cut tooling. Custom stainless shapes start at 1,000 pieces and the mould cost is confirmed against the specification.
Building a Repeat Supply Programme
In-house laser marking: engraving depth is checked against the approved sample.
Volume buyers typically move through three stages, and each one is planned differently:
Trial - 200 to 500 pieces across one or two models, with your logo, to confirm quality and market response.
Production - 500 to 2,000 pieces per model with packaging specified; unit price improves as setup amortises.
Programme - scheduled supply at 2,000+ pieces per model against a delivery calendar, with the signed limit sample governing every batch.
Because steel is formed on reusable tooling rather than cut from natural material, batch-to-batch consistency is structurally easier than with stone - the same mould produces the same shape every time. That is the main reason steel products scale well for distributors and chains.
Quality Checks Specific to Steel
Edge radius and burr condition - inspected per batch, not per order.
Surface uniformity - polish or brush pattern consistent across the lot.
Laser depth - engraving deep enough to last, without distorting the surface.
Rust spot check - especially in humid destination markets.
Stainless Steel Wholesale FAQ
Is 304 or 316 better for gua sha? For normal use, 304 is food-grade and fully adequate. Choose 316 when corrosion resistance is a specific market requirement - marine climates, heavy sanitiser use, or a premium specification story.
Why not 420? 420 is harder and takes a keen edge, but it resists corrosion less well in daily beauty use. We recommend 304 for standard programmes.
What is the minimum for a custom steel shape? Custom shapes start at 1,000 pieces with a mould; the tooling cost is confirmed against the specification once we have a technical drawing.
Can you supply on a schedule? Yes. Programme buyers share a delivery calendar and the quotation becomes a repeating schedule with the signed limit sample governing every batch.
