Bian stone is the traditional therapeutic massage stone of Chinese medicine, and it is one of the few beauty tools with a mineral story your customers can actually verify. We manufacture bian stone gua sha in two authentic origins, for brands, spas, clinics and distributors worldwide.

1. Two Authentic Bian Stones, Clearly Labelled

Most confusion in this category comes from suppliers describing colour instead of origin. There are two recognised bian stone origins in China, and they are different materials with different properties. We supply both, and we label which is which.

Anhui Lingbi Black Bian Stone - Our Core Product

Sourced from Lingbi County, Anhui Province. The raw stone is black inside and out, with no dyeing and no surface treatment. It is a dense microcrystalline limestone with even crystal structure, which is why it takes a mirror polish and holds a crisp edge.
Because the colour runs through the stone rather than sitting on the surface, a Lingbi black tool looks the same after years of use. That consistency is what makes it the strongest retail choice: no returns, no colour complaints, no explaining why the second batch looks different.

Shandong Sishui Bian Stone - Traditional Yellow-Grey

Sourced from the Sishui River valley in Shandong Province. Its natural colour is yellow-grey to brownish-red, with fine grain that polishes to a warm, slightly translucent surface. Sishui is the material older therapy references describe, and it suits clinics and professional treatment rooms where the tradition matters more than the look.
One practical note: Sishui stone will darken gradually with use as skin oils soak into the fine pores. That is a real effect of the material, not a fault. Any tool that arrives looking black but is sold as Sishui has been treated - which brings us to the next point.

2. How to Tell Authentic Bian Stone

The bian stone category has a counterfeiting problem, and buyers get caught by it because the difference is invisible in a product photo. Three things to check before you commit to a supplier.

Colour That Stops at the Surface

Genuine Lingbi black bian stone is black through the entire thickness. If you can find an unpolished edge, a broken corner or a drill hole, the colour should continue inside. A dark surface over a pale core means dye. Sellers who cannot show you an unfinished piece are usually selling treated stone.

Stone That Is Actually Stone

Resin and stone-dust composites are formed in molds and are uniform to the point of looking artificial. Real bian stone has natural grain, slight weight variation and a faint metallic ring when tapped. If every piece in a hundred-piece lot is geometrically identical, it is not natural stone.

Documentation, Not Description

Ask for the material origin, the batch, and a third-party test report covering composition and safety. Suppliers who genuinely control their material can produce these quickly. Suppliers who buy on the open market cannot.
Four checks: uniform black, dense grain, rounded edges, graded bulk.

Our position is simple: we tell you which origin a tool is made from, and we will show you an unfinished piece if you want one. If a supplier cannot say whether a black tool is Lingbi or treated Sishui, that silence is the answer.

3. Black Bian Stone Product Line

Lingbi black bian stone is the line we recommend for most buyers, and the one we hold the most shapes in. It photographs black-on-white without styling, it carries a laser logo clearly, and it does not raise material questions during a sale.

Shapes and Sizes

Facial boards in heart, S, wave, mushroom and double-curve profiles; body tools with a wider scraping edge; comb and multi-tooth formats for scalp and neck; massage wands and eye stones. Sizes and thickness are confirmed against the drawing or the reference sample before production.

Branding and Packaging

Laser engraving on black stone produces a clean, high-contrast mark, which is why it is the default for this material. Packaging is quoted alongside the tool: printed boxes, pouches, sleeves, inserts and complete gift sets assembled under one SKU.

Sishui as a Second Line

For buyers serving clinics or traditional therapy channels, we also produce Sishui red and yellow-grey bian stone. Running both lines lets one brand cover a mass-market black series and a traditional premium series from a single supplier, with consistent quality control.

4. From Raw Stone to Finished Tool

Bian stone is worked by hand for most of its journey, which is why the factory matters more than the specification sheet. Here is what actually happens to the stone.

Selection and Cutting

Raw blocks are graded for density, colour consistency and internal soundness, then cut to blanks. Flawed material is rejected at this stage rather than polished over, because a crack in the finished tool is a customer complaint rather than a rework.

Shaping and Polishing

Blanks are shaped, then polished in stages - coarse through fine, finishing by hand. Black bian stone is dense, so it takes a deep polish, but it also shows every scratch, which is why the final stages are done individually rather than in bulk.
Hand polishing - the stage that determines surface quality.

Edge Finishing

Every working edge is rounded and checked by hand. A gua sha tool is a skin-contact instrument, so this is the single most important step: a sharp edge scratches, and an over-rounded edge stops scraping effectively. Operators run a finger along each edge before the piece moves on.

Inspection

Each shipment passes three full inspections: bulk completeness, grading against our published standard, and a final check of packed goods. We supply a signed limit sample so your receiving inspection uses the same reference as our production line.

5. Bulk Orders and Custom Manufacturing

We produce for brands launching a first collection, spas restocking treatment rooms, and distributors building an assortment. The order shapes differ, so the service is quoted around what you actually need.

Minimums

Bian stone custom shapes start at 100 pieces - the lowest minimum of any material we run, because stone forms without a mould. Stock shapes with your laser-engraved logo also start at 200 pieces per model.

Mixed Orders

Black Lingbi and Sishui can be combined in one order, with different shapes and sizes, packed and labelled separately so your warehouse or 3PL can receive it without sorting. Mixed orders are normal rather than a special arrangement.

Sampling

Every custom project passes a physical sample before production. The approved sample becomes the inspection reference for the batch and for every reorder. Sample cost is quoted per project and credited back against the order at the qualifying volume.

6. Using and Caring for Bian Stone

Standard sequence: cleanse, apply oil, work upward and outward.

In Use

Work from the centre of the face outward and from the bottom upward for a lifting stroke. Bian stone feels cool at first and warms with friction, which is the property the material is valued for.
Do not use gua sha on broken, inflamed or severely acne-affected skin, during recovery from a cosmetic procedure, or during pregnancy.

Cleaning

Rinse with warm water after use and dry with a soft cloth. Hot water is fine. Avoid alcohol on any tool carrying a logo, as it can affect the mark. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
Bian stone does not have a shelf life. Treated properly it lasts for decades, and the surface improves as it takes on a natural sheen with use.

7. Frequently Asked Questions

Is Lingbi black bian stone authentic bian stone?

Yes. Lingbi black bian stone from Anhui Province is one of the two recognised bian stone origins in China, and it is the material with the strongest recognition among international buyers. We source it directly from the Lingbi area and can show the unfinished stone.

Is your black bian stone dyed or oil treated?

No. Lingbi black bian stone is naturally black through the entire thickness, so it needs no dye. It is not oil-soaked and not coated. If you want to verify it, ask us for a photo of a cut or unpolished edge and the colour will continue inside.

What is the difference between Lingbi and Sishui bian stone?

Lingbi is naturally black throughout and is the stronger commercial choice for retail and branded lines. Sishui is naturally yellow-grey to brownish-red, with a finer grain and a warmer look, and it is the origin older therapy texts describe. We supply both and label which is which.

Why does some Sishui stone turn black?

Sishui stone darkens over time as skin oils soak into its fine pores. That is a genuine effect of use, not the natural colour of the stone. Suppliers who present an already-black stone as natural Sishui are describing a treated product.

What is your minimum order for bian stone?

Custom bian stone shapes start at 100 pieces, which is the lowest minimum of any material we manufacture, because stone forms without a mould. Stock shapes with a laser-engraved logo also start at 200 pieces per model.

Can you engrave our logo on black bian stone?

Yes, and black stone gives the best contrast of any material we work with. Laser engraving starts at 200 pieces per model on stock shapes. Silk screen printing is also available and starts at 1,000 pieces.

Can we mix black and Sishui bian stone in one order?

Yes. Mixed orders are normal. We pack and label the two materials separately and provide a packing list so your warehouse can receive the shipment without sorting.

How long does production take?

Stock items without customisation can ship in as little as 3 days. Made-to-order bian stone runs 25-30 days, because the stone is cut from raw blocks and polished through a multi-day hand cycle.

How do you control quality on bulk bian stone?

Every shipment passes three full inspections: bulk completeness, grading against our published written standard, and a final inspection of packed goods. We issue a signed limit sample so both sides inspect against the same reference.

Do you provide samples before a bulk order?

Yes, and we recommend it. Sample cost is quoted per project against the material and process, and is credited back against your order at the qualifying volume.

Do you provide test reports?

We can supply material composition and safety documentation on request, including reports from third-party testing bodies. Tell us which documents your market or marketplace requires at the quotation stage so they are prepared alongside production.

Is bian stone safe for skin contact?

Bian stone is a natural inorganic stone. Our tools are hand-polished with rounded edges so they do not scratch. We can provide safety documentation for your market, and we recommend you confirm the requirements that apply where you sell.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. We ship from Guangdong by express courier, air freight and sea freight, and can consolidate several models into one shipment. Export cartons are marked for your receiving warehouse.

Can you match a shape we already sell?

Send a reference sample or a drawing. We reproduce dimensions and edge geometry, and we will flag anything that cannot be finished to a skin-safe standard before committing to production.
