Silk-Screen vs Engraved vs Mould Logo: Choosing Your Branding Method

Three branding methods side by side: how they look, what they cost, what minimums apply, and which one fits your material and price point.

Gua sha tools
Your logo can be applied to a gua sha tool in three ways, and they are not interchangeable. Here is the head-to-head comparison we walk buyers through, with real minimums and trade-offs.

Method 1: Laser Engraving (Stone and Steel)

A laser burns or etches your mark into the surface - permanent, needs no ink, and works on stock shapes from 100 pcs. On stainless steel it produces a fine grey-white mark; on stone it etches a groove that picks up light. Best for: clean wordmarks, simple icons, buyers who want durability and the lowest minimum.

Method 2: Silk-Screen Printing (Ceramic and Painted Surfaces)

Ink is pressed through a screen onto a flat or gently curved surface - the standard method for ceramic because glaze does not take a deep etch. It prints colour (Pantone-matched) and is what you see on the THE WHOO and AHC ceramic projects in our packaging photos. Minimum: 500 pcs per colour. Best for: coloured branding, ceramic lines, soft-touch marks.

Method 3: Mould-Formed Logo (Custom Shapes Only)

Your logo is cut into the mould itself, so every piece carries it in relief - the most premium look, no ink or burn marks. It only makes sense when you are already paying for a custom shape: minimum 1000 pcs plus tooling. Best for: brands building a signature product line who want the mark to be structural, not applied.

Which Should You Pick?

Price point under $15 retail with stock shapes: laser. Ceramic line with colour branding: silk-screen. Custom silhouette you will reorder for years: mould-formed. Many brands use two - laser on steel, silk-screen on ceramic - which keeps one logo file working across the whole range. Send your logo file (AI, PDF or high-res PNG) and preferred material and we will show you a physical sample of each method on your shortlist.
